20W Power Delivery wall charger from Apple found in new filings.

Rumours has it the upcoming 2020 iPhone 12 may not be included with charging adapter.

Apple is rumoured to be working on a new 20W USB Type-C wall charger that is an upgrade from their current A2244 5W version.

Apple may exclude the wall charger for a couple of reasons,

  • Reducing the overall cost.
  • Reducing the amount of packaging that is required.

This is prior to Apple's decision not to include their earphones in their earlier models like the iPhone 11 to promote more sales of their wireless AirPods and AirPods Pro.

Part of the reports that have been circulating online indicated that battery capacities will be likely to be reduced with observation from their iPhone 11 series. Also based on data from the regulatory filings, batteries that come with the 2020 iPhone 12 have the capacity of 2227mAh, 2775mAh and 3687mAh, depending on the iPhone 12 sizes.

In theory:

iPhone 12*: From iPhone 11's 3110mAh to 2227mAh (Decrease in size)

iPhone 12 Pro*: From iPhone 11 Pro's 3687mAh to 2775mAh (Decrease in size)

iPhone 12 Pro Max*: From iPhone 11 Pro Max's 3500mAh to 3687mAh (Increase in size)

If the changes in battery capacities are true, it is possible that Apple are going to be introducing more advance power saving technologies with faster Power Delivery charging speed.
